VE Day did not mark the end to all of the fighting associated with World War 2. Japan didn’t surrender until 15th August 1945 (or 14th August, depending on time zones). Japan officially signed surrender documents on 2nd September 1945, effectively bringing World War 2 to a close. This is celebrated as V-J Day (Victory over Japan).

Adolf Hitler was the leader of Germany’s infamous Nazi party, and the Chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945. He was also responsible for leading the world into war (a conflict known as World War 2) in 1939. Hitler was born in 1889 in Austria, and was one of 6 children. He died by committing suicide in his bunker, in Berlin, Germany in 1945.
